Kit Cope tests positive for steroids

According to Dave Meltzer at Wrestlingobserver.com, Kit Cope tested positive for theweceventposter.JPG anabolic steroid Boldenone following his Jan. 20th bout with Rob McCullough. This was confirmed to Meltzer by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Kit was stopped by strikes at 2:53 of the first round by “Razor” Rob McCullough in their fight for the vacant WEC lightweight title this past saturday, Jan. 20th. Cope suffered a broken rib in the defeat at the first WEC show under Zuffa ownership.

Boldenone is an anabolic steroid typically used in horses. The normal penalty for this type of violation is a suspension of 9 months and a fine around 5 thousand dollars, as was the case with Stephan Bonnar.

This is not what the WEC or the UFC needs right now with all the talk about mma fighters juicing, especially with the 2 PRIDE fighters testing dirty at the “Real Deal” show in october, with a third, Kevin Randleman, using a sample believed to be taken from either an animal or a dead person. This is the type of blemish on mma’s record that critics like Bill O’Reilly love to point out in their arguements. However I have no doubt Kit, as well as mma, will bounce back just fine.
